Paquette's Camp, A great place for the whole family. More Family Pictures Below is a detailed list of all the activities and attractions that the whole family can enjoy. We are more then just a fishing camp. A wonderful place for kids to be kids. Fishing is only one of the many activities available for the whole family to enjoy. Enjoy sitting around a campfire. (Firewood is provided at no extra cost) Swimming is available with a nice sand beach and a large well marked shallow area for children to play in. Watch the Loons and listen to the outstanding sound of their calls Take a ride into the Chapleau Crown Game Preserve (only seconds away) where you may see Moose, Bear, Beaver, Lynx, Wolves, as well as many other species of wildlife If you are a Bird Watcher ,there are many species of birds to see such as Eagles, Osprey, Hawks. Owls, Loons as well as many smaller birds. Take the children berry picking and enjoy fresh blueberry pancakes for breakfast. Go for a hike, there are many places available for hiking Explore Wangoon lake by canoe and let the children explore some of the islands You don't have to be a fisherman to enjoy a fish fry, ask us about having one while you are here. There is plenty of room for children or people of any age to bring along their bicycles, atv's kayak's etc. Sit and take in a sunset, or look at the brightness of the stars at night. For the younger children we have a playground, as well as a recreation room with a pool table and air hockey. As well as lots of room to run. For people of all ages we have basketball, horseshoes, volleyball and a recreation room Experience the thrill of a train ride ( they are becoming a thing of the past in many parts of the world) You can have a train stop and pick you up at the camp and take a short ride into Chapleau (approx. a 15minute ride), or you can take a longer ride and spend the night in White River and return the following day. See areas only accessible by train! There are many activities in the surrounding area as well that you may want to take in as a family. Chapleau ( about 40 minutes away) offers such things as a 9 hole golf course, a small museum and hiking trails and limited shopping. Tours of the local saw mill can also be arranged . Pot Holes Provincial Park is about 1 hour away and offers a hiking trail along a beautiful creek that cuts its way through the rocky terrain for some outstanding scenery. If you would like to make a day trip to Timmins ( 2 1/z hours away) you can take a tour of a real Gold Mine. You can even keep any gold you may find while you are there! See the home town of Shania Twain, as well the Shama Twain Center Visit the Timmins Museum Take a tour of Cedar Meadows Wildlife park and see wildlife such as elk, deer, bison and moose Stop and have a picnic at one of the roadside parks on the trip there .
