Ontario Ruffed Grouse & Spruce Grouse Hunting

We have great hunting for Ruffed Grouse and Spruce Grouse in our area. We have hundreds of miles of old backcountry bush roads, animal paths and ATV trails that you can travel down and see lots of Grouse.

The best time for grouse hunting is in late September. Many of the leaves have fallen, which improves visibility. The mornings are cool and frosty, which are the conditions grouse like the best and become more active. Later in the day the temperature will warm up into the teens.

Grouse hunting is more then just hunting. It's a chance to take a long walk out in the wilderness and enjoy the scenery. You can see other wildlife and take a few pictures. After spending a few days breathing in that clean northern Ontario air, you will feel great.

The limit for grouse (Ruffed or Spruce in any combination) is 5 per day with a total limit in your possession of 15. A good grouse gun would be a .410 or 20 gauge. Some hunters us their 12 gauge.
